UV Camera

The Digital Camera that we use for UV photography is a Nikon SLR D50 with a Schott BG25 UV Dual Bandpass Lens.

FACT: The light we see is known as "white light". It's really a combination of all visible colors of the spectrum. "Visible" being the key word. The total light spectrum is much larger than what we see. In fact, visible light is only a tiny fraction of the entire spectrum. Visible light is part of what is know as the Electromagnetic Spectrum. The spectrum starts with longer wave/lower frequency light on the left side which includes the infra red lights, radar, FM/AM and television signals followed by the narrow section of humanly with the naked eye visible light, through to the shorter wave/higher frequency ultra violet lights, X-Rays and Gamma Rays on the right end of the spectrum, Yes, radio, television and radiation are all part of the same electromagnetic spectrum as visible light (they are all forms of light, but we can't see it with the naked eye).

THEORY: When a ghost/spirit manifests, it may appear in the light spectrum that we are unable to see with our naked eye, in this case Ultraviolet Light (UV). When using a UV camera (ultraviolet) the spirit/ghost may give off UV light, allowing the UV camera to see it, where the naked eye cannot.

HOW TO USE: The UV Digital Camera has a much higher quality than an UV 35mm Camera. Depending on which UV Digital Camera you use there are many different settings on it. We use the finest setting for taking pictures, which is the highest quality. While in the field take random pictures of an area, making sure you point the camera away from you. You don’t want to capture your breath in the picture, because it may look like a mist. Besides taking pictures of just random areas you also want to take pictures when asking EVP questions, or if there is any activity on any of the equipment.

RANGE: The range of the digital camera varies depending on what type of camera you are using.

READINGS: When analyzing the photographs, you are looking for any type of anomalies in the photos that cannot be explained. When using a UV Digital Camera there will be many times that you get orbs in your photos. Because the UV Digital Camera is a higher quality than the UV 35mm Camera, it will pick up more objects in the air such as water vapor and dust particles, etc, which can be mistaken for orbs. Some of the things you are looking for when analyzing photographs are orbs, mists, streaks, apparitions, etc.
